TELEMA INTERNATIONAL
Business Development Manager
Ireland & UK | Remote / Field-Based
Are you an experienced commercial or technical professional with a track record in regulated industries such as medical devices, pharma, or life sciences or science-based industry? Do you thrive at the interface of complex technical solutions and long-term customer relationships? If you are looking for an entrepreneurial role with real autonomy and Regional scope, we would like to hear from you.
On behalf of an American multinational specialised in the design, supply and distribution of components and custom solutions for medical devices, we are recruiting a Business Development Manager for the Ireland & UK territory.
The Role
Reporting to the General Manager EU and working closely with the VP of Sales (USA), you will lead commercial development and customer partnership across the UK and Ireland. This is a high-visibility, relationship-driven role that combines strategic account management with genuine new business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute the annual territory sales plan, setting ambitious yet realistic targets in alignment with the wider European strategy.
- Develop and deepen relationships with existing OEM customers while identifying and converting new accounts within the medical device and adjacent regulated sectors.
- Act as a trusted advisor: understand customer programmes in depth and propose tailored, technically credible solutions.
- Monitor commercial performance — order volumes, margins and pipeline — and ensure timely, accurate reporting to headquarters.
- Serve as the bridge between the customer and internal teams (Engineering, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Customer Service), ensuring seamless delivery on complex projects.
- Represent the company at industry events, across Europe and occasionally the US.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking professionals with solid commercial instincts and genuine technical curiosity. The ideal profile typically comes from one of the following backgrounds — though we are open to exceptional candidates who do not fit neatly into any single box:
- Sales Specialist or Sales Manager with 6–10+ years of experience selling technical solutions or components to OEM customers in a regulated environment (medical devices, pharma, in vitro diagnostics, or similar).
- R&D Engineer or Product Manager transitioning into a commercial role, bringing deep technical knowledge and the ability to engage credibly with engineering teams and procurement at customer sites.
- Manufacturing or Operations professional with customer-facing experience, comfortable discussing regulatory requirements, supply chain constraints, and quality standards with sophisticated buyers.
Essential Skills & Attributes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: you are equally at ease presenting to a C-suite as you are discussing tolerances with an R&D team.
- Multilingual advantage: fluent English (C1+) is essential; proficiency in a second European language (French, German, Italian, Spanish, or similar) is a genuine differentiator and strongly valued.
- Experience operating within multinational, cross-functional environments — you understand how to navigate matrix organisations and build alignment across geographies.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to medical devices (e.g., EU MDR. and/or FDA QSR) is a significant plus.
- Self-starter and commercially driven, you manage your own territory with discipline and report with clarity.
- Willingness to travel approximately 40–45% of the time across Ireland, UK, Europe and occasionally the US.
What We Offer
- Permanent contract with a base salary of €75,000–€80,000 gross per annum (higher packages considered for senior profiles with outstanding fit).
- Annual performance bonus of 10%.
- Full reimbursement of business expenses including car, fuel and travel costs.
- A genuinely entrepreneurial scope: you will own your territory and shape its growth strategy.
- The credibility and support of an established international group, with short decision-making lines and a team that values expertise.
- Seniority level and title are flexible and will reflect your profile and experience.
Location: Ireland (remote/field-based), with regular travel across the UK, Europe and the US.
We welcome applications from candidates of all genders (L. 903/77). If your background does not match every point above but you believe you can make a real impact in this role, we encourage you to apply and tell us why.
