The role:
The Sales Manager – Imaging & Photonics is responsible for driving revenue growth, developing strategic customer relationships, and expanding market share for Acal BFI’s imaging and photonics portfolio within Italy.
This role requires technical skills that enable you to work closely with the engineering team to develop new solutions tailored to specific customer needs, effectively bringing together technical expertise in sales, business development, and customer management within a value-added distribution model.
The successful candidate will lead the commercial strategy to grow the design funnel creation, managing and motivating a high-performing technical sales team, with direct report to the Country Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute a sales strategy for imaging and photonics solutions aligned with company objectives
- Identify, target, and win new customers in key sectors (defense, industrial, medical, scientific, etc.)
- Grow revenue within existing accounts through cross-selling and upselling value-added solutions
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to closing
Account Management
- Build long-term partnerships with OEMs, system integrators, and key accounts
- Act as a trusted advisor, understanding customer applications and technical requirements
- Maintain regular engagement with strategic customers and stakeholders
Supplier & Product Management
- Collaborate with the Group Business Development Director to support the supplier strategy execution and to monitor and identify the emerging technologies
- Provide market feedback to suppliers and internal teams
- Technical & Solution Selling
- Translate customer requirements into tailored solutions using Acal BFI’s portfolio
- Work closely with FSE (Field Sales Engineers) and technical teams
- Promote value-added services (design support, customization, integration)
Pipeline & Forecasting
- Maintain accurate CRM records and sales forecasts
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities
- Report on sales performance and market trends

Required specifications:
- Experience: Senior B2B solution/service sales and business development background within the electronics, optics, or high-tech components sector, experience in defense market is a plus
- Technical Knowledge: Solid, specialized knowledge of Photonics & Imaging technologies is mandatory
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage, motivate, and upskill technical sales teams (experience managing technical sales engineers or technical specialists is highly valued)
- Track Record: Tangible history of driving top-line revenue growth, improving results month-by-month, and managing complex, long-cycle sales pipelines
- Supplier & Relationship Management: Proven experience interfacing with international principals/suppliers and managing high-level, multicultural business relationships
- Mindset: Proactive networker, flexible and broadminded with a disciplined "can-do" attitude, comfortable working in a matrix organization
- Languages: Fluency in English and Italian (both written and spoken) is essential for interacting with Group leadership and international partners
