Our client is an Italian multinational company operating in the metalworking industry, with a strong international focus. The company employs over 1,000 people and generates an annual turnover of approximately €280 million. Its headquarters in the province of Padua is the strategic hub where projects are developed and the global supply chain is managed, in collaboration with 3 production plants and 5 commercial offices worldwide.
To support the growth of the Purchasing Department, we are looking for a Category Buyer.
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the selected professional will be responsible for the end-to-end purchasing process, with a particular focus on supplier scouting and negotiation, aiming to optimize the overall buying process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scout new suppliers and evaluate existing ones
- Negotiate prices, quality standards, delivery times, and payment terms
- Implement and manage a vendor rating system
- Prepare and manage the purchasing budget
- Drive cost-saving initiatives to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
- Analyze the supply chain to identify and implement process improvements
- Manage medium- to long-term relationships with suppliers
Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in a technical or economic field
- Previous experience in purchasing technical components in structured companies and managing complex negotiations
- Familiarity with subcontracting or consignment stock processes
- Knowledge of product cost structures and cost breakdown analysis
- Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite
- Good command of English

- Ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships
What the company offers:
- Permanent employment contract under the Italian Metalworking Industry National Agreement
- Gross annual salary range: €30.000 – €40.000, based on experience and skills
- Working hours: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
- Access to on-site company canteen
- Availability to travel for supplier visits is required
